Word, PowerPoint and Excel 2013 all open with the Start Screen rather than a blank new file. You can change this setting if you would prefer to have the particular program open directly into a blank new file.
To disable the ‘start’ screen:
- Click the File Tab and select Options
- On the General Screen of options, under Start up options, uncheck the option to Show the Start screen when this application starts.
An additional option you might prefer is to disable the “open e-mail attachments and other uneditable files in reading view.”
Reading View displays documents as if they’re a small booklet. Check out the examples below
To disable Reading view:
- Click the File Tab and select Options
- On the General Screen of options, under Start up options, uncheck the option to “open e-mail attachments and other uneditable files in reading view.“
